Your day to day

JOB SUMMARY: To produce high quality pastries, desserts & breakfast goods for all outlets, banqueting & outside catering using the best available ingredients ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Foster positive thinking and motivation within all Food and Beverage kitchens by giving active assistance and advice on more effective ways of running the kitchen.2. Plan in coordination with the Pastry Chef and outlet Managers, activities, promotions, menu implementations according to the annual marketing plans.3. Ensure that all designated action points from daily briefings or monthly operational meetings are being followed by the individuals concerned.4. Ensure that positive working relations with non Food and Beverage departments are fostered giving cooperation at all times.5. Be aware of and comply with all legislation affecting the operation, including licensing regulations, health regulations and fire and safety regulations.6. Relate guest comments, positive or negative, to the Executive Chef.7. Assist Pastry Chef in compiling the annual marketing plans and budget.8. Ensure disciplinary and grievance procedures are properly adhered to and followed.9. Be responsible for and accountable the overall food cost as well as kitchen supplies, kitchen energy costs and kitchen utensils in his department.10. Find ways to improve the efficiency of the operations which will benefit our clients.11. Assist the Pastry Chef in constantly finding ways to further improve the Food cost through strategic purchasing, without negatively affecting pre-determined quality standards.12. Constantly strive to reduce energy consumption within the kitchen.13. Complete detailed checks of the Food and Beverage operation during all service periods taking necessary actions to correct any deviation from quality standards relating to the pastry department.14. Conducts weekly equipment maintenance checks & stewarding cleanliness issues & follows up on deficiencies in a timely manner.15. Prepares weekly work schedules & annual vacation plan for his subordinates.16. Creates and develops new dishes and recipes by keeping up with the new latest trends.17. Plan, co-ordinate and supervise all menu implementations in conjunction with the Executive Chef in a timely manner.18. Assists in preparation and control of daily and weekly market lists.19. Conducts daily hotel tours to observe operational standards and difficulties and follow them up with the Executive Chef.20. Constantly strive to improve kitchen operating procedures.21. Be fully responsible for the labour budget of the Pastry / Bakery kitchen department.22. Propose and initiate when approved, new services and products for our guests.23. Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the department head from time to time.24. Co-operate with the company to achieve compliance with FLS legislation25. Take moral and legal responsibility for conducting themselves in their work so they do not expose themselves or others to risk26. Not undertake any activity which compromises their personal FLS, or the FLS of others27. Report all accidents, dangerous occurrences, or hazards, no matter how minor, to the supervisor or Heads of Department

What we need from you

Ideally, you will have at least a minimum of 2 years experience at the same level in a 4/5 Star leading hotel chain. Bachelor's Degree in Hospitality, computer literate, very good English communication skills (both oral and writing) .
